Ropera® Selected for the Hörnli Master Plan in Arosa
With the Hörnli Master Plan, Arosa Bergbahnen is investing in the next generation of ropeway technology. The project includes the construction of a new 10-passenger gondola lift and a new 8-passenger chairlift in the Hörnli area of Arosa.
For us, this project represents several significant milestones. It will feature the implementation of the Ropera technology platform and marks the first realization of an 8-passenger chairlift based on this system. The project is the result of a close and collaborative partnership with Arosa Bergbahnen. Over the past months, both teams have worked together intensively to develop a forward-looking solution that combines passenger comfort, operational efficiency and outstanding design.
Ropera standardises the combined innovation expertise of the ropeway companies within the HTI Group and brings their strengths together on a shared technology platform. The system combines high performance with maximum ease of operation, intelligent digital monitoring systems, low noise levels and a long service life. As a result, Ropera provides the foundation for efficient, comfortable and future-oriented ropeway operations.
A particular highlight of the project is the station architecture designed by Studio F. A. Porsche. The stations combine contemporary design with functionality and give the new installations a distinctive visual identity.
Both the 10-passenger gondola lift and the 8-passenger chairlift are designed for operation in FOB mode (operation without on-site operating personnel). This enables highly efficient operating processes while maintaining the highest safety standards.
The new gondola lift will provide a transport capacity of 1,800 passengers per hour, while the chairlift will carry up to 2,800 passengers per hour. Together, the two installations will offer a combined capacity of 4,600 passengers per hour.
The project is of particular importance to us, as development, engineering and a substantial part of the manufacturing are carried out at our headquarters in Flums, Switzerland. This means that a significant share of the value creation remains in Switzerland.
We would like to thank Arosa Bergbahnen AG for their trust and look forward to delivering this landmark project together.
