Xishan, China: New 8 Seater Panoramic Gondola Under Construction

We are building a new 8 seater panoramic gondola in the Xishan Scenic Area in Kunming. The existing chairlift from 1993 is being replaced within the current line corridor by a modern installation featuring 33 cabins designed by Studio F. A. Porsche.

The new gondola covers more than one kilometre in length and overcomes around 127 metres of elevation.

Construction is taking place under challenging conditions: limited space, demanding topography and ongoing visitor operations. Both the valley and mountain stations are currently under construction, while the foundations for the new towers are being prepared along the line.

The new installation will significantly enhance capacity, comfort and efficiency, connecting the city of Kunming even more directly with the popular recreational area of Xishan.
